Ivan & Amy
Twenty five years ago, Ivan was best man at our wedding. We had
met in the social club at the North Middlesex hospital where I was training as
a Registered General Nurse and he as a Radiologist-Radiotherapist. After a
period of travel and a somewhat convoluted story involving another woman, he
met Amy, they married and settled in Santa Barbara, California where he works
as a Radiotherapist. Ivan offered to fly over from the states once he had heard
about my diagnosis. Fortunately, he was able to pause and plan and again Elsa
(my little sister) stepped up and offered to accommodate Ivan & Amy for the
time they visited Cambridge. Ivan has also had an opportunity to see his own
family and friend’s .Ivan was permitted to observe a treatment session and sit
in on the oncology outpatient review .All very helpful from my perspective
.Equally important Ivan was able to attend the Wednesday night gathering at the
pub, see some sights. Many thanks to Amy for everything (the stress sweets have
been going down well) and to Ivan for his sense and insight into the
treatment/prognosis questioning,
Ivan & Amy

Bloody Nora. Superman in t'cap whatever next?
ReplyDeleteOh and I think it's time you got a new hat. I've seen all of them
ReplyDeleteNoted .However you have not seen them all.Watch this space!
DeleteExcellent news! I expect to see a few more "off the wall" or maybe even some "haute couture" options appearing then!!
DeleteJust found this hat! Way too cool - Cynaps (derived from 'synapse') is the world's first Bluetooth enabled, bone conduction headset, discreetly installed into an easy to wear hat. No earphones are required. http://www.maxvirtual.com/
DeleteIf its dependent on bone conduction that might not be a problem .My tumors/swelling being primarily frontal lobe / surrounding lobes may well have reduced synaptic functioning ?.I don't feel as if I am losing executive function however spent most of Thursday struggling with the fact I had managed to put my underpants on the wrong way round.I promptly changed in the toilet prior to my sixth radiotherapy session this afternoon.Mind you ,I could easily have done the wrong way round pants thing prior to the tumors!
DeleteIt's that damn t-shirt! It could have been worse you could have put them on over your strides!!
DeleteDear Neil,
ReplyDeleteThe 'S' on the Superman shirt is almost 3D – it looks like it's going to fly off your chest!
Love,
Lenore
PS, I loved your holiday photos.
T shirt made in USA. Weekend break very much helped by glorious weather.Life is good. Snow drops out in the Abbey Gardens BSE
DeleteHi Neil, flaming lovely to see you at Mildenhall on Tuesday. You are looking good buddy, but you really shouldn't have brought those lovely biscuits. Very bad for us girls!! Well, Spurs won last night! How lucky are we? I really thought we were going to get nowhere against Lyon as they were blocking off all our chances. We have to hope and pray that Jose doesn't get his meathooks into our Gareth. He really has to stop at the Lane!! Still trying to get used to posting comments on this blog. It isn't easy!! Hope to see you again soon up at Chestnut Close. In the meantime, keep smiling. And eating. And drinking. Lots!!
ReplyDeleteHello Janine
